Randomnipity

There's all sorts of things going on around here.  Spring is coming... school is out for the week... I've got a cold...  I'm having a baby soon... you know, the usual.  :)

But things are good.  As for a Squish update, I went to the doctor's yesterday. 

Total weight gain:  6 pounds.  Remarkably low for 33.5 weeks, but she's growing exactly as she's supposed to so they aren't even a little concerned.  I think this is the best "diet" I've ever heard of.  I get pregnant, eat as usual, and she grows... all the while, she sucks fat off the rest of me.  Score!

Expected date of C-section:  April 30th.  National Hairstylists Appreciation Day.  As for the month:  Fresh Florida Tomatoes Month, International Twit Award Month, and Holy Humor Month.  (And there are more, believe it or not). 

Everything is going well!  She's still practicing yoga within the confines of my torso.  When she comes out, she better be tired and ready to sleep a lot.

We're much closer on a name, but we're not telling.  It's taken us this long to get even remotely close.  Therefore, we're taking no chances on the innocent "Hmm, I knew someone with that name... she was...  interesting" or the ruder, "EW!  Why would you name your kid that?!  I don't like that name at all".  Frankly, if we find a name we like and we can agree upon, we'll be so thrilled that we couldn't give a whit of a care on whether the rest of the world likes it.  Front runners right now are Steely Mo, Bumqueesha, and Salmonellla.  I dare you to make fun of those.   I DARE YOU!

As for Beanie Bean, she's also doing quite well.  She's into all sorts of stuff lately and is all sorts of funny. 

Here's a common conversation starter between the two of us::

Me:  Hi Bean!!
Bean:  Hi Mommy!  What you doin'? 

She says "What you doin'?" in the same tone as Joey from Friends says "How YOU doin?"  It cracks me up every single time. 

She's been a relative joy to put to bed lately too.  I know that it won't last forever, so I'm enjoying it.  After she talks me into the 37th book, I finally get her in bed and say my usual "Love you girlie."  She always looks right at me and says, "Love you too, Mommy" And then waves me out of the room saying, "OK, bye!" 

I think it helps that she has about thirty stuffed animals, forty books, and various miscellaneous toys or  other hoarded items stuffed in her bed with her.  Bedtime shouldn't be boring.  But changing her sheet is pretty much a half day job.  But she sleeps and sleeps well, so I'm not complaining. 

Well, she sleeps well most of the time...  occasionally she has a minor spaz session from something that freaks her out.  Most recently, she wanted me to throw away a 4 inch high soft cow.  Who knows what this cow did to offend her, but she wanted NOTHING to do with it.  Once it was properly removed from her room, she went right to sleep.

The only other thing that makes her have a bit of a rough time sleeping is a cold.  She sometimes gets a runny nose and nothing makes her more frustrated.  I'll hear her call from her room, "MOMMY!  MOMMMMY!  I have Boo-geys!"  The word boogies is often also pronounced as "Bow-gies"   Cracks me up.

Potty training is stalled at the moment.  Not having a bathroom on the main floor is kind of a deal breaker.  She does love to sit on the potty, though she'll also request to go potty in her more traditional way just as often.  I'm too tired to press it at this time.  Maybe after the next one gets here.  We'll see.
